So what is Google’s answer to the online Yellow Pages? The Local 3 Pack. This is their way of providing local brick and mortar business results to your search query. If you’ve ever searched a query for restaurants and saw a list of results with red balloons corresponding to map locations, then you have experienced Google providing you local search results to your search query.

A little bit of history and where it’s trending: Previously, Google provided 7 local business results to your search query. If you searched for kitchen remodeling, then you would see 7 red balloons.

Now, Google provides 3 red balloons corresponding to 3 local remodelers for your query. Pretty soon, Google will place 1 ad and 2 red balloons so businesses have an opportunity to purchase an ad listing in the Local 3 pack.

I will make another video about this, so if you already see a link at the bottom of the post to that video, then that means Google is done testing and has officially rolled out this feature.

For now, how do you even get into the Local 3 Pack of results on Google? First of all, it’s free but you need to verify your business with Google.

I’ve included a link at the bottom to create an account with Google My Business. Just follow the directions from there. We’ll get into how you can optimize your listing in another video.
